Green Schools Mission
The Green Committee meets once or twice a term to discuss ways in which we can promote our goal of Global Citizenship. The committee is made up of children from 1st to 6th class. They act as leaders in the school, informing their peers about initiatives in the school and guiding them to become more conscious global citizens.

Updates and News
Composting
Our school was selected for a 'Composting for Schools Programme " and Ms Keane and Ms Pettit took part in six webinars to learn how to help our school reduce waste. Bins are now all labelled and we have a green and a black bin in each classroom. Craig Benton from the programme came for a school visit and was very impressed with our beautiful landscape. Craig and Jeff built two leaf mould cages to help us utilise all the leaves we have in autumn time. These will make a mulch after decomposing for one year and after two years will make a rich compost. We look forward to using the compost in our school garden. Craig will be back to our school in January to deliver and set up a wormery. The worms will feed off the brown waste from the school staff room and use lots of leaves as bedding. The children will have an opportunity to visit and feed the worms. Thanks again to Jeff for all his hard work maintaining our grounds and taking such excellent care of our school.
Starting Off Strong!
Our Green School Committee have started the year off well with litter picking and labelling all the green and black bins in the school. Our school was chosen for an exciting composting programme which will see leaf moulds and wormeries created in the school garden to help reduce our carbon footprint. Thank you to all our committee members for their hard work this term. Keep up the great work!
Christmas Decoration Competition!
In other news we were so happy to see such a huge response to the Recycled Christmas Decoration Competition. Well done to all the girls and boys on their fantastic creations. We especially want to congratulate Ellie Cahill from 1st class whose design was chosen to represent our school at a Christmas awards ceremony in County Hall, Dun Laoghaire on Thursday 12th December. All children who entered will receive a homework pass for January for their efforts. Huge credit to Ms. Keane for leading this and the green team for all their hard work.
